Conservative leaders: AT&T, Time Warner merger is a threat to free speech

The proposed AT&T merger with Time Warner has several conservatives concerned that their free speech could be hugely impacted within our news environment. Jenny Beth Martin pointed out that Democrats’ obstruction of nominees meant the merger was not properly vetted by President Trump’s appointees. Other conservatives voiced additional concerns and even liberal lawmakers have also weighed in on the acquisition, creating an unusual alliance between conservatives and liberals who have reservations about the merger or oppose it outright. The Washington Times has conservative leaders’ remarks on the merger: “I think it’s pretty dangerous ...

Conservative leaders to McConnell: It’s time for you to go

Dear Senator McConnell, 2017 has been a disappointing year for the millions of Americans who fully expected, and had every right to expect real change in Washington. Republicans were given full control of the federal government. They – you – have done nothing. Worse, it is painfully clear that you intend to do nothing because, as is most apparent, you had no intention of honoring your solemn commitments to the American people. You were not going to “drain the swamp.” You are the swamp. You and the rest of your leadership team were given the majority because you pledged to stop the steady flow of illegal immigration. You’ve done ...

Jenny Beth’s Journal: White House needs to use the ‘bully pulpit’ to make the case for border wall funding

According to reports, Reince Priebus, John Kelly, Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, pushed for the president to strike a deal with Congress offering 800,000 illegal immigrants, known as “dreamers,” protection in exchange for legislation funding a border wall. Jenny Beth argues that President Trump should not break one major campaign promise to implement another. Instead, she believes the White House should use the bully pulpit to make the case for border wall funding. The Hill has the inside scoop: “Dreamers” refers to the roughly 800,000 illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children who were the beneficiaries of ...

Gulf carrier ‘cheaters’ threaten livelihood of 1.2 million Americans counting on the aviation industry

The U.S. aviation industry is facing a significant threat from three state-owned Gulf carriers: Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways. They have received over $50 billion in subsidies from their governments just within the last decade, that has skewed the free market, placing American jobs and the aviation industry in jeopardy. The Washington Examiner has the details: The U.S. aviation industry is facing a significant threat from the United Arab Emirates and Qatar that could mean the end of our industry as we know it. And that means the livelihoods of 1.2 million Americans who count on a strong aviation industry are at-risk.   The ...

Tea Party Patriots Weekly Report from Washington for 8/14/17

CALENDAR: The House and Senate have both left for their August recess, and will not return until Tuesday, September 5. APPOINTMENTS/CONFIRMATIONS: Now that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has moved over from his position as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, that creates a vacancy in that office. For the first few days after the announcement of his move, there were suggestions that maybe President Trump was creating the vacancy so he could move Attorney General Jeff Sessions to Homeland Security, and then appoint a new Attorney General who, not having recused himself from the Russia probe, could fire Special Counsel ...

Obamacare’s number 1 success: ‘Sucking vast sums of money from the private sector’

For the past 7 years, Obamacare has wreaked havoc on our health care system, leaving Americans with fewer health care choices and higher insurance premiums. Thanks to Obamacare Repeal Traitors in the Senate Republican Conference, Obamacare will continue to cause problems for Americans and for the delivery of health care in our country until the law is finally repealed. Until then, it is important to remind Americans just how bad Obamacare is for the country.  Linda Gorman, the director of the Health Care Policy Center at the Independence Institute, wrote a new piece for The Hill, showing what Obamacare does excel at: taking money out of the private ...

President Trump continues to keep his promise to enforce our immigration laws

For 8 years, the Obama administration carelessly turned a blind eye to the enforcement of our immigration laws, granting millions of illegal immigrants amnesty. President Trump and his administration are making efforts to properly enforce our immigration laws and those efforts are making a difference. Newly released documents are shedding some light on just how indifferent the Obama Administration was to enforcing our immigration laws while bypassing Congress to grant executive amnesty to groups of illegal immigrants. The Washington Examiner has the details: In its rush to welcome over one million illegal immigrant youths from Latin America, ...

Rep. Andy Biggs: ‘I will not take a subsidy that is not afforded to my constituents’

Republican Rep. Andy Biggs is among several conservative lawmakers that refuses to give up on the Obamacare fight and thinks President Trump should cancel lawmakers’ ‘royal Obamacare treatment’ to help serve as motivation for lawmakers to fulfill the GOP’s  campaign promise. The Hill has the details: “President Trump is right: the subsidies must be eliminated to incentivize Members of Congress to keep their promise and repeal Obamacare. Only then, will the American people — and their Representatives — see a return to affordable health care premiums,” Biggs said in a statement. ... If Trump were to follow through on his ...

According to an audit from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, the Internal Revenue Service rehired employees who were involved in misconduct such as falsifying documents or had unauthorized access to taxpayers’ information. Lawmakers are crying "Foul!" — and rightfully so — over the internet company Hillary Clinton hired to run her private, off-the-books email server, as the company has been giving congressional investigators the runaround for more than a year — something prompting leading lawmakers to take the case to President Trump's Justice Department for prosecution. The Washington Free Beacon has the details: Rep.
